Fulford Place hosts antique workshop October 16 | ||
Workshop participants will learn about marquetry, parquetry, refinishing and fakes on the market. Each person is invited to bring one antique for identification. Participants must be able to carry their own item, so are encouraged to bring only pictures of large items or one of a set of chairs or one drawer from a dresser, etc. The workshop will be of interest to curators, collectors, dealers and furniture enthusiasts. The session runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a 1¼-hour lunch break. Lunch reservations can be made in Carlile's career highlights include hosting "The A-Z of Antiques" from 1994-99 for BBC Radio and teaching a course at Lancaster University on the artifacts and implements relating to Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian social history. Her recent clients include: The Canadian Museum of Civilization, Rideau Hall and the House of Commons. Carlile also serves on the Board of the Ontario Historical Society and is the curator/director of the Arnprior and The cost of the workshop is $65 per person. Pre-registration is required.
