EVENT - Fulford Place hosts silhouette workshop for kids

Saturday, May 10, 2008 – 10 a.m. to Noon

Children are invited to participate in this fascinating silhouette workshop. Silhouettes – or shades, as they were also called – date back to the 1700s and had their heyday in the 19th century. For many years, silhouettes were a way for the general public to possess a portrait of a loved one.

Participants in this workshop will learn about the art of silhouettes as they make and decorate a framed profile of themselves. This keepsake provides a snapshot of a particular time in your life and makes an ideal gift for Mother's Day.

Tickets for the workshop are $10 per child – the fee includes art supplies and a picture frame. To register, please call Fulford Place at 613-498-3003.

Fulford Place – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario, dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario's heritage.
